Please join us in period costume or black
tie for our culmination event for "March To
Victory" Weekend, to be held in Ridgefield's historic Lounsbury House.
General George Washington & General
Jean Baptiste Donatien de Vimeur comte de Rochambeau will start
our gathering at 8pm. Libations and sumptuous
fare will be served throughout the evening.
Music in the downstairs parlor will be by
the Tourmaline Quartet, four strings from
the Ridgefield Symphony who will play music
of the period, including several minuets. Those
accomplished in the minuet are encouraged
to take the floor after General Washington
has led the first dance.
Music upstairs will be by the Reel Thing,
a period music group with caller Patricia
Campbell, who will teach neophites basic
moves on the spot as well as call dances
for more experienced 18th century dancers.
In a quiet side chamber, harpist Linda Stevens
will offer a more subdued musical experience. Another
parlor will be reserved for 18th century
gaming. There will be two bars serving
alcoholic and non-alcoholic libations of
the period. And there will be four-course
catered fare in another chamber, including
frog legs in honor of Rochambeau's
56th Birthday which he celebrated July 1,
1781 in Ridgefield's Ridgebury Parish. Another
chamber will feature Mr. Bailey, the noted
18th century magician. Various French
dignitaries and inspired local politicians
may deliver some brief remarks from the elegant
Lounsbury House staircase.
